What is it?

An hour long, individual or group video consultation with real time help from a qualified, accredited, certified instructor.

In your session we can cover your choice of training, including:

How will we connect?

We use the video conferencing software Zoom to conduct your session or a happy to use facetime from your facebook. All you require is a good internet connection and a device with a camera such as a laptop, iPad, tablet or mobile phone.

Before your consultation, you will receive an email from enquiries@leapsbounds.com.au to confirm your appointment time which also includes a link inviting you to participate in a Zoom Video Conference.

All that you need to do to join the video conference is to click on the zoom link which will take you to the meeting (usually in a separate tab of your internet browser).

What do I need?

For Your Dog

Dog Collar and Lead

Please use a flat collar or harness – no prong collars or correction chains.
Dog Bed

For them to settle on in between sessions, this can teach them to be calm
Treats / Rewards

Humans like to be rewarded and so does your dog, so please have treats on hand ready to go. The Leaps & Bounds training methods are based on positive reinforcement and so we tend to use a lot of treats! These can be something as simple as pet meat (such as Prime 100 roll) cut up small or any usual part of their diet such as chicken, cheese, sausage or anything that you know that your dog will like.
Toys

As well as treats, your dog's favourite toys are also handy to use as a reward. We recommend having at least two dog toys for your session and you should keep these away from your dog until we’re ready to utilise them during your session as a reward.

For puppies

For our online Puppy Classes we will ask you to gather a number of different items, we may not use them all but it's good to have a good selection of items on hand. See some ideas below, we would recommend having at least 4 different things for your session:

- Bubble wrap
- Cardboard box
- Plastic buckets or dish
- Old tins or trays (something that would make noise when your puppy puts its paws on it)
- Blankets (something you don’t mind your puppy getting a little dirty!)
- Pillow (something you don’t mind your puppy getting a little dirty!)
- Skateboard
- Wire bound book
- Old tarp or empty backpack (something that you might be able to entice your puppy on to or into that feels a little different to what they would usually put their paws on)
- A plank and some bricks or pavers (or similar, to create a little step)
We want to build happy, resilient puppies! Please see attached sheet on socialisation in a pandemic and choose a couple of things from the list of unstable surfaces.
